La Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) publicó el libro blanco Global perspectives on information literacy: fostering a dialogue for international understanding, bajo la dirección del Global Perspectives on Information Literacy Working Group de la ACRL Student Learning and Information Literacy Committee. La idea de este informe surge de la necesidad de entender cómo aparece representada la alfabetización informacional a lo largo y ancho del mundo y cómo se aplica entre diferentes culturas.
