The rapid transition from the ‘Internet of Things’ to an ‘Internet of Bodies’ is extending data collection beyond the conventional digital footprint, incorporating biological impulses and brain activity through neurotechnologies connected to the nervous system, thereby reshaping human–computer interaction and undermining the legal protection of users’ minds. This essay aims to analyse, from an ethical and normative perspective, the conceptualisation of neural rights or neuro-rights in light of the expansion of consumer neurotechnological devices, the central role of artificial intelligence (AI) in data decoding, the state of legislative initiatives, and the urgency of digital and technological literacy aimed at schools and the general public.
