The Prospectiva 2020 project: taking stock

The Prospectiva 2020 study is reviewed by the working group that prepared the original report for the Library Cooperation Council in 2013. After 7 years, coinciding with the proposed time horizon, the group assessed the level of compliance with the ten trends that were identified, as well as the corresponding challenges and proposals. The methodology includes a survey of the group's collaborators as well as a synthesis of their written opinions. The results reveal greater compliance with the trends than with the proposals and challenges. In addition, the disparity between library typologies and local realities is once more evident. Finally, it is proposed that such exploration of the future of libraries should continue in order to prepare for new challenges.
