This paper stresses the importance of extensive reading as a necessary complement to academic papers and technical reports when it comes to building a disciplinary field. A review of basic, introductory, or popular books related to the area of Information Science is carried out. Above all, it proposes a selection of works, whether translated into Spanish or not, that may open people´s eyes to job opportunities or spread visibility of the disciplines related to information from their own point of view, with a focus on the organization of knowledge.
