Henriette Avram (1919-2006): The MARC format and its impact on Spain

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Henriette Avram, the creator of the MARC format, authors summarize the milestones in the evolution of the MARC format. The evolution of the MARC format in Spain and its different "˜flavors´ are also described until reaching the widespread application of the MARC 21 format along with some projects that have contributed to the extension of the MARC format in Spain.
