Abstract

The Social Web is a phenomenon that has been introduced very quickly in the library and information science area. The author presents the characteristics of Web 2.0, organizing into 10 categories the issues that have enabled the incorporation of the social web into information systems. The text describes various aspects of the new generation Web, some technical, such as interoperability or tagging, and others social, such as participation or customization. Taken together, these 10 keys define what the social web is and why it can be considered a technological revolution.
