New scientific evaluative frameworks have made academic evaluation more flexible, allowing for more diverse justifications for a publication’s relevance. However, this has led to an overuse and, at times, incorrect use of metrics. To address this problem, bibliometric minimalism is proposed, based on five basic principles. Instead of accumulating meaningless metrics, priority is given to a careful and relevant selection, correctly articulated and interpreted, and presented in a structured manner, ensuring that each piece of data contributes real value to the evaluation.Downloads
